In the series Free Verse: Poetry to Painting, I am creating works of visual art whose models are words, the words of poets. While a desire to internalize the meaning and beauty of poems prompts some to commit poems to memory, those same qualities prompt me to commit poems to paintings. I am drawn to poems that are metaphorical, certainly, but are expressive through reference to the tangible and visible world. This painting is inspired by the poem Warming Her Pearls by Carol Ann Duffy.
